Generous donations from alumni, staff and friends of the University have helped first year student Kristina get through an extremely challenging time that may have otherwise had a long-term impact on her future.

The Careers Mentoring Programme helps students overcome the financial and confidence barriers to building wide professional networks.

The Residential Mentoring Programme is a peer-led support service for students staying in halls of residence and creates a supportive community for new students to the University.

This year the Hallam Fund will support a new Sanctuary Scholarship for students with refugee status coming to study at Sheffield Hallam University. The scholarship aims to support people who wish to progress into higher education and are seeking asylum in the UK.

Through support of The Hallam Fund a new Residential Wellbeing Mentoring programme has been launched which is committed to improving student wellbeing and ultimately reducing the number of students forced to withdraw from university.

The Residential Mentoring Programme helps students become more involved in university life and form new friendships.

Sheffield Hallam has been awarded the Excellence and Innovation Award by the Stand Alone charity for its commitment to supporting new and returning estranged students.

Donations to the Hallam Fund have helped to make the transition to university easier for estranged students

Back in April this year, 35 Sheffield Hallam University staff laced up their running shoes to tackle the gruelling Sheffield Half Marathon to raise money for the Hallam Fund.

Thanks to our donors, students from estranged and care leaver backgrounds are able to attend their graduation ceremony and celebrate their achievements alongside their peers.
