How to access support as a uni student

Being a university student can be difficult sometimes but there is always the right support available for you if you know where to look for it.

Support available to you

Whenever you feel like you have a question or you have a problem with something - there is someone at Hallam who can help. You can:

  • get answers to common questions (course, modules, exams, placements, assessment extensions etc.)
  • book sessions with specialist advisors (student advisor, academic advisor and employability advisor)
  • get support for wellbeing (one to one support and group sessions)
  • access disabled student support
  • get funding advice (scholarships and bursaries, support for learning resources and financial emergencies etc.)
  • get help with your learning (library sources, Skills Centre, training programmes offered by Hallam Students’ Union)

Where you can find it

Depending on your enquiry, support can be found online and on campus. You can find and book any online support service through MyHallam and if you need help while on campus, look out for the Hallam Help points.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for online and you are not on campus, Hallam has a great system through which you can ask your own questions using your university account. You can chat live online to a team member every weekday from 9am until 5pm.

Why it is important for your learning experience

Finding the right support is essential for improving your experience at Hallam. You will see how much easier everything is when you make use of all the support services the university offers you. In my experience, these services helped a lot with all my enquiries and my need of improving my referencing and academic skills through the Skills Centre, for example.

Final thoughts

Don’t forget that Hallam has a range of support services available for you. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask or book onto any specific sessions that might help you. Make your experience at Hallam a better one!
