How to find us

Our applicant open days are an exciting and vibrant time, and we are always delighted to see so many of you visiting our campuses. It’s a great idea to plan your journey before the day so you set off early with enough time before the start of your session. 

You can find a full map of both our campuses, along with details about our accommodation below. 

• City Campus map and location - Howard Street, Sheffield, S1 1WB (if you’re using satnav please use S1 4RF)

By car

If you’re driving, we’d recommend parking near our City Campus to get the benefit of our discounted city parking at APCOA "The Moor" located on Eyre Street. If you need information on disabled parking or require any additional support, please call 0114 225 6464 or use our ask a question form in advance of the event, or call 07500 227997 between 10am-7pm for any enquiries on the day. In February 2023 Sheffield introduced a Clean Air Zone within the inner ring road and city centre. The Clean Air Zone is part of a wider plan which brings improvements in air quality across Sheffield and the region. This will only impact heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), light goods vehicles (LGVs), vans, buses, coaches and taxis. Private cars and motorbikes will not be charged. Find out more on the council's web pages.

By train

Our City Campus main entrance is a 5 minute walk up the hill from Sheffield train station. See the National Rail Enquiries website for times and fares or call 03457 48 49 50.

By coach

Coaches stop at Sheffield Interchange, right next to our City Campus. From Sheffield Interchange you can pop across the road from Stand A, and enter through the STEM building. Visit the National Express website to see timetables and book tickets.

In conjunction with Sheffield BID we have teamed up with a variety of Sheffield city centre businesses to offer visitors to our open days with a select range of offers and deals. When you arrive

Check in

Let us know when you've arrived by checking in at one of our welcome points. Staff at these points can help you plan your day and provide you with a copy of the applicant open day guide if you don't already have one. Check-in points can be found at the below locations:

City Campus

• Level 5, Owen Building (main entrance)
• Hertha Ayrton STEM Centre
• Charles Street Building
• Cantor Building
• Stoddart Building (instead of Langsett Building)
• Head Post Office Building

Collegiate Campus

• Heart of the Campus
• Robert Winston Building

Check your guide

It's important for you to know what's happening at our applicant open days and at what time things start, so have a look through the guide when you arrive to find out about the different talks, taster sessions and stands on offer. If your course is based at Collegiate Campus, you can easily get between City and Collegiate Campus using our shuttle bus services (see below “Getting between campuses”). Just ask our friendly student ambassadors for information when you arrive.

Changes to our schedule 

• Fine Art talks at 10.55 and 1.25pm are in Room 16.-2.08, Head Post Office Building which can be found through the courtyard. Please ask for directions when you arrive at the Head Post Office Building.
• We have a new accommodation open to view called Devonshire Courtyard, S1 4HG. Please check in with our Accommodation team to find out more and to look around our accommodation during your visit.

The below talks and stands were previously scheduled in Langsett Building.

• The Sheffield Business School Student Experience talks at 9.45am and 12pm are now taking place in Room 7140, Stoddart Building.
• Accounting and Finance talks at 10.30am and 12.30pm are now taking place in Room 7516, Stoddart Building. You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.
• Airline and Airport Management talk at 10.30am is now taking place in Room 7511, Stoddart Building.  You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.
• Business: International Business and Languages talks at 10.30am and 1pm are now taking place in Room 7332, Stoddart Building. You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.
• Business, Management and Enterprise talk at 10.15am and 12.30pm are now taking place in Room 7140, Stoddart Building. You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.
• Economics and Financial Services talks at 10.30am and 1pm are now taking place in Room 7331, Stoddart Building.  You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.
• Esports Management talk at 12pm is now taking place in Room 7301, Stoddart Building. You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli..
• Events Management talk at 12.30pm is now taking place in Hallam View, Level 6, Owen Building.  You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.
• Food and Nutrition course stand can now be found in Stoddart Building Deli. The course talk remains in Room 1239, Owen Building.
• Marketing talks at 11.30am and 1.45 pm are now taking place in Room 7140, Stoddart Building.  You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.
• Real Estate talk at 11am is now taking place in Room 7330, Stoddart Building. You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.
• Tourism and Hospitality Management at 12.30pm is now taking place in Room 7510, Stoddart Building. You can now find our course talk stand at Stoddart Building Deli.

Plan your day

Explore Sheffield Hallam and find out if it is the right university for you. There’s loads to do at an open day, so make sure you can fit everything in.

• Attend the welcome talk - Start your day with a brief introduction to Sheffield Hallam from our staff and students. Welcome talks are scheduled as follows:

• Attend the specialist introductory talks - There are three Health and Social Care related talks and one from The Sheffield Business School. See page 10 of the guide for more information. 

• Discover your course - Meet lecturers and students from your chosen course at the course stands. Information starts from page 10 of the guide.

• Support Services stands - Got any questions about what support and help you’ll have as a student here? Chat to our staff or attend a talk on your chosen topic. Check out pages 30–35 of the guide.

• Explore accommodation - Take a look around an example of our halls of residence and talk to students about what it’s like to live there. You can find a list of open accommodation on page 40 of the guide.

• Take a campus tour - Imagine yourself as a Hallam student and take a tour of our City campus including our 24-hour libraries. There are maps of our campuses at the end of our guide. Tours run throughout the day between on a rolling schedule. Just drop in at the meeting points and join the next available group. The City Campus tour meets at meet at Level 5, Owen Building and the Collegiate Campus tour meet at Heart of the Campus.

• Explore Sheffield - Choosing a university is about more than the course – the city must be right too. Sheffield’s a brilliant place to live and study – make sure you save some time to explore. You can also take a walking tour of the city if you wish - just visit our tours stand in our main entrance at City Campus.
