How you'll learn

We've worked with our students to develop an approach that combines time on campus with digital learning and support.

And because every course is different, your learning mix will reflect what you're studying and the modules you've chosen.

Hallam awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework

We have been awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) in September 2023, for outstanding support for student success and progression.

The TEF panel praised the success of the University’s ‘holistic approach’ to achieving ‘outstanding outcomes across all stages of the student lifecycle’.

Find out more about TEF and what the award means.

University of the Year for Teaching Quality

Knowledge applied

Our teaching style can be summed up in two words: knowledge applied. We believe the best way to learn something is to put it into practice. You'll achieve that through

  • work experience embedded in every year of your course
  • opportunities to take a placement year, resulting in an applied professional diploma
  • a digital skills pathway within your course
  • a personalised support and employability package
  • a course designed with industry experts
  • personal development tailored to your chosen course and industry
  • a curriculum designed for collaboration and cross-disciplinary learning

Your voice

We worked with students to design this approach – and we'll keep working with you to refine it, year after year.

You'll have the chance to get involved in discussions about how you're taught, and have your say through the Students' Union's academic representation programme.

With you from the very start

From the moment your place is confirmed, we'll support you to get ready for university.
