BA (Hons) Business and Management student Edward Greenwood took a one-year work placement as a management trainee with Enterprise Rent-A-Car as part of his course.

“I have gained a variety of experiences on my placement with Enterprise. Firstly I worked in sales, helping to motivate team members with prizes for those performing above targets and expectations. 

“I’m currently working in growth. It’s directly related to my course and I’m enjoying it a lot. I arrange face-to-face meetings with our corporate accounts to form stronger relationships and raise revenue for both sides. 

“As I get deeper into my placement I will be learning more about the inner workings of the company. For example, recently we took part in a statement night, looking into the statistics of our branch and how our profit is made. 

“I have also begun running the days, meaning I am practically the manager for the day, responsible for ensuring the branch runs efficiently. 

“This has given me a huge opportunity to learn more about day-to-day business practices rather than simply learning the theory at uni. It has given me the chance to implement my knowledge in a real workplace. It's boosting my personal confidence, knowledge, and ability.

“The best thing about the placement is that it helps you to really understand a business and what it’s like to work there. All people see externally is customer service and renting cars, but it goes so much deeper than that. And that’s what you need as a student to prepare you for your future career.”
