'I did a nine-month placement in a hotel in the USA.'
International hospitality and business management student Amy Scott travelled to Colorado in the USA to spend nine months working for the famous Stanley Hotel.
'The Stanley Hotel is filled with so much history and character. Not only did I leave with highly valuable work experience, but I also developed a lot of life experiences.
'I applied for the placement through the university’s Live, Learn, Earn scheme. It really appealed to me – I love having adventures and travelling, so being able to incorporate that into my second year of uni was perfect.
'Being so close to the Rocky Mountain National Park meant hiking, exploring and extraordinary memories were created on a daily basis.
'My placement allowed me to experience working in a variety of roles within the hospitality industry which has helped me to narrow down the areas I'd like to work in when I graduate. And gaining this new knowledge and new skills in an internationally renowned establishment looks great on my CV.'
