'Doing a masters has improved my confidence and knowledge'
Ben Gibson studied as an undergraduate at Hallam, and decided to take the same subject at as a masters. Now, he's ready to start his career at a more advanced level.
“For my masters, I continued to study the same subject area – MSc Urban Planning. I decided to stay at Sheffield Hallam because I enjoyed my three years of undergraduate study here. I found it a modern, positive place to learn.
“The studying itself is more intensive, especially if you decide to do a full-time masters – there is a step up in terms of the level of teaching and content. However, I felt prepared by my three years of undergraduate study and found the difference very manageable.
“Overall, doing a masters has improved my confidence and knowledge, along with my career prospects and employability, making me a more competitive applicant for future job interviews.
“My advice would be to research it thoroughly to make sure it is the right decision for you. For me, it has been a valuable, worthwhile decision."
