‘I worked with the police to investigate modern slavery’
In 2018, police in Derbyshire and Latvia exposed a large human trafficking operation. Victims were being transported from Latvia to Derby and forced into labour. Students and staff at Sheffield Hallam have evaluated the joint investigation to help future operations.
‘Working on real projects like this is invaluable when it
comes to personal and professional development. I know as I’ve already been
mentioning it in job interviews that it will help me in my future career. But I
think also every experience you can have to build your empathy and understanding
will definitely contribute to your work later in life.’
