Pre-entry applicant support
If you have connections to the Armed Forces, you can access specialist support through the SHU Progress Scheme. The scheme provides additional support in the year of application and throughout the application process, including your transition to becoming a university student.
Financial support
Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELCAS). The scheme enables service personnel and service leavers to access financial support during higher education study.
Students may also be eligible for the Student Success Scholarship and other scholarships or bursaries.
University Service Units
You can apply to join the following University Service Units in the Yorkshire and Humber Region:
You'll join a Service Unit as a 'Officer Cadet' and have the opportunity to gain an insight into military life, develop your leadership skills and enhance your employability among both military and civilian employers. You'll also be paid for the activities you take part in and be considered a reserve of the British Armed Forces.
There's also the opportunity to gain formal qualifications in areas such as solo navigation, formation flying and aerobatics.
Join a University Service Unit

Sheffield City Council have collated a number of local external organisations and charities that specialise in supporting members of the Armed Forces community, including service leavers and military families.
