What you can study on exchange at Sheffield Hallam University
If we have a partnership with your university, in the subject area you are studying, you can apply for a single semester or full year exchange with us here in Sheffield.
Module choice
Details of the modules that are available for incoming exchange students are available on our exchange modules page. For most of our second year (level 5) exchange options you will need to have completed your first year in a relevant discipline. We also offer some postgraduate (level 7) modules for exchange students. All incoming exchange students have the opportunity to study a 20 credit module in English for Academic Purposes (subject to timetabling and demand) as well as our Global Citizenship Portfolio module.
All modules at Sheffield Hallam University carry credit value which indicates the workload attached to the module. Most modules carry 20 CATS (10 ECTS) credits but some are less than this.
If you are here for
- A full year then you will take 120 CATS (60 ECTS) credits
- A semester then you will take 60 CATS (30 ECTS) credits
- A term then you will take 40 CATS (20 ECTS) credits
Exchange students in some subject areas, such as engineering and fine art, undertake a supervised research project rather than following taught modules while they are at Sheffield Hallam.
