This page outlines the qualifications we accept from India, and the general grades you will need. Some courses have different requirements, so check your course page carefully before you apply.

Undergraduate courses

  • A-levels
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) / IB Career-related Programme
  • Standard XII with an average score of 65% to 70%
  • Diploma in Engineering or Technology

Applicants who have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree at a recognised Indian university may be eligible for direct entry into undergraduate programmes at Sheffield Hallam University.

If you do not meet the academic and English entry requirements for direct entry to an undergraduate degree you can consider studying our International Foundation Programme.

Postgraduate taught courses

  • A three or four year Bachelor's degree with a minimum score of 55% to 60% or higher (from a recognised university).

Please refer to the course page for the specific English language requirements. Standard XII English with a minimum score of 70% may be considered equivalent to IELTS 6.0. 

Postgraduate research

  • Masters degree from a recognised University
