Getting you career-ready

We are committed to developing the employability of our students. We aim to ensure that every student is prepared for highly skilled employment or further study upon graduation.

The Careers and Employability Service offers free, impartial advice and guidance for students and recent graduates about career and educational choices.

We help you get work-ready skills that make you stand out when you graduate.

We have expert advisers who will support you as you plan your future career, including advice on work experience, part time jobs, graduate careers, work-ready skills and mentoring. Our ‘Career readiness’ offer includes

  • specialist placement and graduate job search advice, including assistance with applications, video interviews and psychometric assessments.
  • extensive extra-curricular employability support including; the Career Mentoring Scheme, Career Impact programme, Hallam Award programme, Hallam Achieve and the annual Hallam Careers Fair which last year had over 150 employers in attendance.
  • our Campus Jobs offer provides students with the opportunity to further develop their skills and gain paid part-time work experience.
  • business start-up support, self-employment advice, and access to our Hallam i-lab business incubator while you study here and for up to five years following graduation

International students also receive immigration advice regarding post-study visa options and individual support with visa applications.
