Maryam is a Technician Graphic Assistant at SYSTRA, one of the world's leading engineering and consulting groups specialising in public transport and mobility solutions. She is currently studying for our Creative Digital Design degree apprenticeship

“I chose a creative digital design course as it combines artistic creativity with technological skills. I was interested in applying my artistic skills in a practical, real-world setting rather than a traditional classroom setting.

“The course provides hands-on experience that allows me to apply my expanding skills, including graphic design, UX/UI design, and marketing to real-world situations. It encourages creativity and innovative thinking across various projects, making the learning process engaging.

“Continuous learning, career flexibility, and tangible portfolio building contribute to the overall enjoyment of studying this course.”

“I always feel supported when doing my coursework, it is easy to contact lecturers to ask questions or get feedback. Sheffield Hallam is very supportive when it comes to our work.

“I support the development and maintenance of SYSTRA’s brand guidelines and visual standards by creating graphics, illustrations, and materials for both the company and clients.

“The data economies module taught me how to read and analyse data patterns in human behaviour, which helps me to design effective materials.

“To make the most of a higher and degree apprenticeship, research the programme and the company. Establish your preferred learning style and develop good time management skills. Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude are key to benefiting from this unique educational opportunity.”

This course is delivered by Sheffield Hallam as part of the South Yorkshire Institute of Technology.

As a partner of the South Yorkshire Institute of Technology (SYIoT), we are creating a dedicated South Yorkshire Institute of Technology space, where our learners benefit from the latest cutting-edge equipment being used by industry.
