Sheffield Hallam University is one of the largest providers of 'sandwich' education in Europe and is very experienced at providing students with placements at degree level. Placements help students to understand the connection between their course and how it relates to their career. For employers (Placement Providers) it can be a great way to recruit, with a chance to bring fresh ideas into an organisation and an opportunity to create links with our University.
Placements are two of the main types of in-industry work experience we offer at Sheffield Hallam:
- Work placements – the ‘traditional’ year-long (minimum 24 weeks) Undergraduate Sandwich placements and Postgraduate Work Experience placements undertaken during a ‘Placement year’; and
- Short placements – as a type of in-curriculum Work Experience (typically between 120-240 hours), undertaken during a taught module.
