Chalen Westaby
Chalen received my PhD in Public International Law from the University of Derby and has been teaching at Sheffield Hallam University since 2008. Her PhD focused on the area of international legal history and looked at the development of the customary international law right of self-determination after the Second World War.

My teaching interests are focused around children’s development, particularly cognitive development, and developmental research methods. I also teach Forensic psychology, focusing particularly on witness evidence and children’s engagement with the law and law services.

My main research interests are in early modern literature and culture - Shakespeare, the literature of the 'long 1590s' and the relationship between the theatre and royal iconography.
