Chalen received my PhD in Public International Law from the University of Derby and has been teaching at Sheffield Hallam University since 2008. Her PhD focused on the area of international legal history and looked at the development of the customary international law right of self-determination after the Second World War.

Catrin teaches criminology and conducting interdisciplinary and comparative research

My teaching interests are focused around children’s development, particularly cognitive development, and developmental research methods. I also teach Forensic psychology, focusing particularly on witness evidence and children’s engagement with the law and law services.

My main research interests are in early modern literature and culture - Shakespeare, the literature of the 'long 1590s' and the relationship between the theatre and royal iconography.

Following my research interest in transitional justice and human rights, I pursued my doctoral research at the Transitional Justice Institute, University of Ulster, where I was awarded my PhD in International Law (Transitional Justice and Human Rights).

Teacher on Undergraduate programme (EU Law), Post-graduate programme (LLM International Commercial Law).

As Programme Leader for the Criminology courses I support and advise staff on a wide variety of issues relating to the Programme.

I work with Modern Languages PGCE students and mentors through lectures, seminars and tutorials, in university and in placement schools

I teach a number of the foundation subjects on BA, PGCE, Teach First and BATL courses

I teach on a variety of Developmental Psychology modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
