Controlled release wound dressings
A novel wound dressing which is active against MRSA for four days has been developed in collaboration with colleagues from the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam.
The material has demonstrated in vitro activity against a range of common bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, for up to 7 days. The material is particularly effective against methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and has been shown to be active in vitro against two strains of hospital acquired MRSA and a strain of community acquired MRSA.
