The Hands-on Bridge Inspection Training Course offers bridge inspectors the opportunity to use equipment for testing concrete, steel, masonry and timber in a simulated environment in the laboratory.
Our one-day training course is intended to give bridge inspectors first-hand experience in the use of the various techniques. This will include, for example:
Concrete: Covermeter surveys, Ground Penetrating Radar, Ferroscan, Pundit, Pundit Array, Schmidt Hammer, Half Cell Potential (Wheel and rod),
Steel: Ultrasonic flaw detector, Coating thickness, Paint film thickness, Advanced ultrasonic gauge
Masonry: Drilling Resistance Measurement System, BRENCH
Timber: Drilling Resistance, Microsecond timer, Pundit, Sonic testing, Screw withdrawal, Moisture content
Generic: Strain gauges, LVDT, Hardness tester, Snake eye, Model Bridge Bearings

Cost: £350 per person (one day event). Fee includes notes, refreshments (tea/coffee at arrival, mid-morning, mid-afternoon) and lunch.

For cancellations received within 14 days of the course start date, an administration fee of £100 will be charged. We regret that no refunds can be given after this date but substitute delegates are welcome. Non-attendance will be considered as a late cancellation and the full fee will be payable.
