Congratulations in order for MERI PhD student in Dallas
Friday 03 April 2015
Abubakar Mohammed, one of MERI's PhD students, travelled to Dallas, Texas last month to attend NACE International's Corrosion 2015 conference.
NACE International is the Worldwide Corrosion Authority, serves nearly 33,000 members in 116 countries and is recognised globally as the premier authority for corrosion control solutions. Amongst offering conferences such as Corrosion 2015, the organisation also offers training and certification programmes, industry standards, reports, publications, technical journals and much more.
This year, Corrosion 2015 attracted over 6000 delegates and 450 exhibiting companies for an educational event focused on the prevention and mitigation of corrosion worldwide.
Abubakar entered the Student Poster Session at the conference, which was sponsored by BP and aims to encourage students to become active in NACE and to present the results of their work to the membership. The posters are judged based on number of criteria including scientific and novelty of approach, clarity and potential impact on the corrosion community and/or the public.
Against 120 fellow competitors Abubakar won 3rd prize overall - an excellent achievement and is testament to the quality of our postgraduate research schemes.
