Time will darken paper is a picture essay examining mimesis as a way to transform our understanding of key texts.
The project applies the variorum scholarly technique of comparing variant versions of a text in a single collection to interrogate and reconstruct our view of historical narratives. This series of graphite images resituates text pages as components of an aesthetic puzzle. The project draws on a range of source material including political memos, fictional texts and historical images to consider the way narratives are constructed as events that depict people in time and place like shapes on a canvas.
The artist's project was commissioned by the EsopusFoundation for Issue 21, Spring 2014 of Esopus magazine. See http://esopusmag.com
