Social networking sites (SNSs), such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, have become very popular and are being used in many aspects of everyday life. This increasing use has motivated scholars and researchers to study SNSs and their relationship to other fields of study. In addition, experts who are interested in developing educational strategies are encouraging instructors to take advantage of these new technology tools in their instruction and teaching.
The Saudi government is currently undertaking a developmental campaign at all levels of education based on the belief that education is a worthy investment and the foundation for societal and national development.
The main objective, therefore, is to investigate and acquire an in-depth understanding of the college members’ attitudes, uses, motivations for and concerns about using SNSs in education, particularly in the gender-segregated educational setting of Saudi Arabian universities. This must be done while taking most relevant cultural and societal factors into consideration.
Finally, this study will help both educational policy-makers and college gain a more comprehensive perception of this topic. It is my hope that this research study will take the current body of research one step further.
