Scan of Steel
Wednesday 15 August 2012
Professor Marcos Rodrigues has recently completed the 3D scanning for the Man of Steel sculpture.
Leading edge 3D technology has been applied to the Man of Steel project in order to resolve issues relating to design, planning and engineering. The 3D scans that have been created by Professor Rodrigues have allowed Axis Architects, based in Sheffield, to model a virtual environment that will help to determine the final appearance of the sculpture and produce data needed for the planning application submitted to Rotherham Council.
This work has clearly been a success as The Man of Steel has made the headlines again this week following the councils decision to approve planning permission for his proposed location in Kimberworth.
