Becky Shaw has been selected for WATERSHED+ THE DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT LAB, Calgary
Monday 04 January 2016
Becky Shaw, Reader in Fine Art and Postgraduate Tutor, has been selected as one of 5 international artists to participate in WATERSHED+ THE DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT LAB which will take place in Calgary from 10 - 15 January.
The Watershed+ Lab is a concept that immerses artists within the Watershed+ program, with the intent to support critical thinking, shared knowledge and to bring contemporary artists’ practices into the work of the Utilities and Environment Protection Department. This issues-based Lab encourages artists to explore and experiment in response to the context of Calgary’s water management system and the city. Following the Lab artists will submit a proposal for a public work.
This Lab has grown from previous Watershed+ initiatives – UEP staff laboratories, artist residencies, permanent and temporary projects – aiming to renew and strengthen emotional connections between Calgarians and their watershed.
Further information on the city of Calgary's public art plan is available here and details of the Watershed+ project are here.
