Our curriculum covers all aspects of the development of the pre-school child. Our nurseries are happy and caring places for learning, where children have the chance to explore, discover and develop their unique qualities, skills, gifts and talents. Children work in various sized groups during the day, as well as one-to-one time with our staff. We work towards early learning goals.
See our outstanding Ofsted inspection report.
Under threes
For children under three years of age we arrange our rooms to provide for all areas of learning. Staff spend a lot of time playing, reading and singing with them and encouraging conversation through activities such as:
- baking
- finger painting
- role playing - going shopping or making phone calls
- reading in small groups
- singing and saying rhymes
- outdoor play
Three and four year olds
Each day is structured to involve activities indoors and out, planned to support their learning needs. Rooms are divided into areas for:
- creative work
- role play
- music
- construction
- block play
- sand and water
- graphics
Outings
We like them to take children in all age groups on a variety of outings, such as:
- walks in the University grounds
- walks in the neighbourhood including the Botanical Gardens and Endcliffe Park
- bus and tram rides to parks
- longer trips such as theatre, butterfly farm, museum, city farm and Winter Gardens
- shopping in local stores
