The ambitious events include a charity abseil, a dog festival, tequila tasting, a Peaky Blinders murder mystery, disco-themed bingo and a charity boxing match.
The events have been organised by students on Events Management, Arts and Entertainment and Experiential Marketing courses and will raise valuable funds for Cavendish Cancer Care, Support Dogs and Food Works.
The students have undertaken a range of challenges to fund the production costs of their events, including shaving their heads, dressing up in superhero costumes, baking, sporting challenges and securing sponsorship.
They also create marketing campaigns for their events and engage local business as venues, suppliers and sponsors, all with the aim of raising as much as they can for this year’s charities.
The events kicked off on Friday 18 March with El Tropicano, a tropical-themed club night at Signal in the City Centre and conclude on 30 April with the Paws with a Cause Dog Festival at Hillsborough Arena.
The events are the culmination of the students’ degrees, bringing together three years of study and work experience, transforming everything they’ve learned about staging events into reality.
This is made possible through their final year event management modules, which challenge students to plan and deliver an event of their choice, with all profits being donated to their chosen organisation.
Jane Tattersall, Lecturer in Events Management, said: “It really is the icing on the cake for the students and staff, we are consistently impressed by the calibre of the events and the amount of money they raise, they are amazing.
“We couldn’t do it without the support and generosity of Sheffield’s businesses who offer generous discounts and support to our students and Sheffield’s people, who buy tickets, donate generously and have a brilliant time.”
Tickets and information for all the events are available on the Hallam Charity Events website.
