They have been awarded National Teaching Fellowships (NTF) by Advance HE, a prestigious individual award which recognises outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession in higher education.
James Corazzo is a principal lecturer in graphic design and approaches graphic design education and teaching as the act of making things possible, and not taking things for granted. He combines creativity with compassion to design learning as an unfolding excursion from the familiar to the unfamiliar.
On winning the award, James said: “I'm thrilled to be awarded a National Teaching Fellowship. It's a genuine honour to follow previous NTF winners who have encouraged and inspired me with their work and research on creative education.
“I feel very lucky – I get to channel my curiosity and passion for design and education alongside incredible students and colleagues every day. Being recognised for the impact has felt great and the support from staff at Sheffield Hallam during the process of claiming NTF recognition has been brilliant.”
Chris Riley is a principal lecturer in law and head of clinical provision at Sheffield Hallam University. Chris is instrumental in the development of Hallam’s award-winning clinical and applied learning initiatives that benefit hundreds of students across the Law programme at Hallam and at other institutions.
Chris said: "I am truly honoured to receive such a prestigious award and to be part of the NTF community, which has already been so welcoming. This award is a testament to all my students and colleagues who have challenged, inspired and supported me in the last 15 years. A special thank you to Sheffield Hallam's TALENT team, who have been so supportive in guiding me through this process and providing valuable feedback on my submission."
The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) is a competitive UK-wide scheme which celebrates and recognises individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession in higher education.

The winners will collect their awards at the 2022 awards ceremony in Liverpool.
