Sheffield Hallam has been recognised for producing outstanding accountancy students by one of the world’s largest professional body of management accountants

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has shortlisted the University alongside 18 institutions in the University Partner category at the CIMA Excellence Awards - recognising universities with outstanding students and a high pass rate in CIMA accountancy exams.

As a CIMA accredited institution, Sheffield Hallam gives students the chance to gain a globally recognised accounting qualification in addition to their bachelor’s or master’s degrees.

Brian Pine, professional body relationships manager in the department of finance, accounting and business systems (FABS) said: “The FABS’ team is delighted the University has been recognised by CIMA in this way. It’s pleasing our graduates are continuing to obtain outstanding results when taking CIMA’s professional exams.

“It confirms our teaching is successful in helping students achieve their aspirations to obtain their professional accounting qualifications and have a very bright future in the world of accountancy.”

The CIMA Excellence Awards were launched early this year to recognise university and academic partners who have worked tirelessly to equip CIMA-qualified graduates and students for future-ready careers.

The awards recognise the high quality of education, leadership, research and innovation, and teaching undertaken in universities. They also recognise the effect of that work to employers and businesses and reward CIMA partners who deliver more than the standards expected of a university faculty.

The 2020 winners will be announced on December 11 during an inaugural virtual celebration.
