It follows success for Olivia at Graduate Fashion Week, held in London, where she picked up the award for the best digital portfolio.
She said: “It has honestly been such a whirlwind. I was away in Cornwall when I got the email asking if I could send over my dress to a stylist as he was getting together some looks for Ellie to try for an event.
“I never really thought much more about it as I know she’d have had tonnes of options, most of them being from high end designers and I thought I didn’t stand much of a chance of mine being worn.
“I kept checking Ellie’s Instagram and paparazzi photos to try see what she was wearing on the day of the event. When saw her sat in a taxi wearing my dress I literally screamed!
“As an aspiring designer it is everything you dream of, but I never thought in a million years thought it would reach somebody like Ellie Goulding, let alone that she would choose to wear it!
Also shortlisted at Graduate Fashion Week was Mathilda Harvey who made it into the final three for her category, Fashion Illustration.
Mathilda said: “It was quite a surprise to find out I had made it into the final three for this award up against all the amazing work from students at universities from across the UK.
“It has been a very difficult and challenging final year with numerous national restrictions and lockdowns but being involved with Graduate Fashion Week has been a lovely way to finish my degree at Sheffield Hallam and to see everyone's hard work in London has been amazing.”
Organised by the Graduate Fashion Foundation, Graduate Fashion Week showcases the work of over 3,500 of the very best fashion graduates each year.
The event attracts a wide array of top industry professionals, press and recruiters from UK and abroad who use the week to discover talent, as well as offer graduate employment and placements opportunities.
Lee Harding, fashion design course leader at Sheffield Hallam University, said: “I am so pleased for our students to be recognised for all their hard work in this way, both by Graduate Fashion Week and by an international star like Ellie Goulding.
“It is also a fantastic achievement for the department and shows that our courses at Sheffield Hallam give students the skills they need to thrive after university.”
