Sheffield Buddhist Centre

Howard Rd, Sheffield S6 3RT

The community night, which is open to everyone who has completed the Buddhist Centre's introduction course, is on a Tuesday night. There are regular study, meditation and celebration events through the week, and often special events or retreat days at the weekends.

There is a monthly meeting for people aged 18-35.  One of the Order members is a student chaplain and runs events and courses at the University of Sheffield

The community is welcoming of young families – many members have their own young families, and there are some family events throughout the year.

The Triratna Buddhist community welcomes people of all sexualities and genders. In Sheffield there is a study group for community members who identify as gender diverse or non-binary, in addition to groups for men and women. At the weekly Sangha (community) night there is a mixed as well as a men's and women's discussion group. There are special events and retreats in Sheffield and at other Triratna Centres around the county for LGBTQ+ Buddhists.

There is a prerequisite to attend an introduction to Buddhist and meditation course before attending other community events or retreats. More information about this can be found here.

The six-week introduction course is open to all, and anyone is welcome to keep attending events at our centre whether or not they think of themselves as a Buddhist. The events are for anyone who is interested in growing as a human being.

Centre for Mindful Life Enhancement

CMLE exists to introduce people to the principles and practices of mindful life enhancement.

Mindfulness involves meditation [including the Four Immeasurables: Loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity], mindful movement and informal practices, many drawn from Positive Psychology, such as gratitude, savouring, generosity, and challenging negative thinking.

The Centre runs courses both online and in person in Sheffield.  There are many guided meditations on both the above websites, as well as videos of mindful movement, and explanations of mindfulness and meditation.  All these are free to use and download.

We welcome everyone interested in exploring mindfulness and meditation, although we do not run activities for young children.

For current information on courses and other activities please contact John
