Connecting to SHU Wi-Fi (Windows 7)

Win 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft so we suggest you upgrade.

  1. Click on the Wireless icon in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen and then click Open Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Click on Manage wireless networks.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select Manually create a network profile.
  5. Enter the name, security and encryption settings as shown and then click Next.
  6. Click Change connection settings.
  7. Click the Security tab.
  8. Click the Settings button.
  9. Un-tick Validate server certificate.
  10. Click the Configure button.
  11. Un-tick Automatically use my 11 Windows logon…, click OK, and then OK again to return to the SHU-USS Wireless Network Properties Window.
  12. Click the Advanced settings button.
  13. Tick Specify authentication mode: then choose User authentication.
  14. Now click on the 802.11 settings tab
  15. Click the Save credentials button and enter your SHU username and password.
  16. Un-tick Enable Pairwise Master Key caching 
    Click OK to the Advanced settings window.
    Click OK to the SHU-USS Wireless Network Properties window. Click Close.
  17. When the wireless icon turns white, you are connected to the Internet
