We were one of the first UK universities to have members of staff recognised as National Teaching Fellows by the Higher Education Academy (HEA). We’ll support you to develop your teaching and research skills, with access to CPD supported by HEA accreditation.

Research

Our applied research and innovation address important social and economic challenges, often through our partnerships with businesses and organisations.

Results from the Research Excellence Framework 2021 rated 72 per cent of the research we submitted as world leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*). These results underline the quality of research being undertaken across the University, and its impact on the economy and society.

Our research and innovation strategy builds on this platform by supporting and developing our researchers, and enabling them to advance their careers with us. Our University Researcher and Innovator Development Academy is at the heart of our research strategy.
