Home Office call for evidence on Violence Against Women and Girls - Recommendations from the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice

Academics and Researchers from the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice submitted a number of recommendations in response to the UK Government Home Office’s call for evidence on its Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy.

The submission proposed recommendations to reduce the occurrence of VAWG and how to improve institutional responses by applying an equality and rights based approach. The submission is divided into 4 sections focussing on:

  • Reducing in the incidence and severity of violence against women and girls through preventative and supportive measures;

  • Improving outcomes for victims/survivors through better handling of crimes in the criminal justice system;

  • Identifying new and emerging forms of violence against women and girls so that they can be adequately tackled; and

  • Conclusions and Recommendations
