Attendance Requirements
Students must attend the placement for the whole period that they have been allocated to their placements. Students must be present for the whole day/shift on all dates assigned to them by their placement provider.
The following documents explain the Placement Attendance requirements for your programme. It is essential that you familiarise yourself and comply with the attendance requirements for your course.
Please also read the advice on the Working Time Directive, available in the Policy Library (internal link). This gives important information about the total number of hours you may work in a week.
Reporting Absence
It is essential that students report sickness absence as soon as possible to the university as well as to your placement provider when you know that you will be unable to attend your placement. You can find guidance on reporting absence under the Student Support/Attendance and Absence tab in the Placement Information section on this site.
STUDENT LEAVE REQUESTS
Students on the Paramedic Sciences programme are no longer required to ask the course team regarding any leave but must advise the course team what leave they are taking and why.
Students are informed that any lost placement time will not be replaced, and they could fail if they do not meet course placement attendance requirements. Students are also informed that if they miss any taught sessions, they must use the learning materials provided to cover the taught content as the session content will not be repeated.
