Placement Learning Expectations

The Placement Learning Expectations document sets out general expectations of all those involved in the partnership between students, clinical staff, university lecturers, patients, service users and carers in the clinical education of health professionals.

The Health and Care Profession Council's Standards for Education and Training have been in force since June 2017, providing overarching guidance on the role of Practice Educators.

Notes for Placement Supervisors/Mentors, Trainees' Tutors and Trainees 

This document provides guidance on the assessment of practice roles of the trainee, their tutor and placement supervisors/mentors in meeting the aims of placement learning within the overall programme plan.  Where 'placement supervisor' is referred to, it should be understood as including the 'mentor' where applicable.

Induction

The Induction document explains what must be included in the student's induction to the placement and the associated roles and responsibilities involved.  Where 'placement supervisor' is referred to, it should be understood as including the 'mentor' where applicable.

Guidance on Maintaining Confidentiality

The GDPR Guidelines outline the different domains of information that students will need to give to clients to ensure they are properly informed on what they give consent to in relation to art psychotherapy; these guidelines can be found in the Placement Handbook. The Advice on Storing and Keeping Artworks and Clinical Notes after End of Art Therapy section of the Placement Handbook sets out the legal and professional guidelines that art therapists, and trainees, should follow.
