Emergency vouchers are available to students in immediate financial crisis.
Overview
Emergency vouchers provide temporary assistance if you have an immediate financial crisis. You can request a voucher if you are unable to buy food, toiletries or other essential items and have no other alternatives.
What you could receive
If your request is successful, we will send you a £35 digital Tesco voucher.
There is no guarantee that a voucher will be issued if you request one, and all requests are considered on their individual merits. There is no cash alternative, and we are unable to offer vouchers for other supermarkets.
Vouchers are not a long-term solution to financial difficulties and repeated requests will be refused.
We want to support students who are experiencing emergency financial situations. If you request a voucher, you are likely to be referred to have an appointment with the Student Funding Team and/or your Student Support Adviser.
Who can apply
You can request a voucher if you have home fee status and enrolled on a taught credit bearing course, or research degree, during the current academic year.
We can only issue vouchers to international students following a referral. If you are an international student experiencing financial difficulties you must speak to an adviser from the International Experience Team.
How to apply
You will need to submit a request form. The form will ask you for:
- Evidence to support your request (such as bank statements)
- A personal statement telling us what has led to your current situation
You must read the guidance on providing bank statements before submitting a request. This can be found at the start of the form.
Voucher requests are unavailable whilst the University is closed over the Christmas break. Applications will re-open on Thursday 2 January. Our activities and support over the festive break page has details of the range of support available to you while we are closed and who to contact if you need urgent help.
