From enhancing your tourism destination management skills to exploring a research topic of your choice in depth, you’ll develop into a well-rounded and socially conscious professional at the end of this course. Applied learning
Live projects
You get the opportunity to work on a live consultancy project with an external partner to build your skills and professional experience.
Recent students have contributed to developing the network of the UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum, helping to organise their annual conference in Gibraltar. They’ve also been involved in developing Operation Make Safe, working with hotels, tour and transport operators to raise staff awareness of child protection issues.
Field Trips
Field trips are a perfect way to put theory into practice and develop lifelong connections with your fellow students and tutors. One of the most popular field trips our tourism students have enjoyed recently was a two-day visit to Malton's food market and York, including a ghost tour.
Networking opportunities
You’ll be able to develop your own professional network by meeting alumni working in the tourism industry – and by engaging with professional bodies such as the Tourism Management Institute or the Institute of Travel and Tourism.
Competitions
We’ll encourage and support you to take part in external student competitions.
Recently one of our students was on the winning team for the prestigious Young Hoteliers Summit, organised by the École Hôtelière de Lausanne, and including a challenge provided by Marriott International.

Entry requirements
All students
Normally one from
• a HND or foundation degree in a relevant subject, with an overall merit profile from year two modules
• equivalent qualification in a relevant subject

If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each skill.

Fees and funding
Home students
Our tuition fees for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2025/26 are regulated by the UK government and are yet to be confirmed. For an indication, our tuition fee for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2024/25 is £9,250 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200.
If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees. International students
Our tuition fee for International/EU students starting full-time study in 2025/26 is £17,155 per year.
