Teaching
We are Gold rated in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for the outstanding quality of our teaching and student outcomes
Our engineering courses give you a learning environment that's as close as possible to the real world. Based in the £11 million Hertha Ayrton STEM Centre, they give you hands-on experience of the tools and equipment used in industry, from flight simulators, wind tunnels and automotive workshops to structural integrity, thermofluids and robotics labs. They also give you the chance to hone your skills on real projects, and spend a year on a paid work placement.
Taught by the School of Engineering and Built Environment, our engineering programmes cover a wide range of specialisms, including aerospace, automotive, electrical, manufacturing and food engineering. Many are accredited by professional bodies, and all are informed by partnerships with major employers such as Rolls-Royce, Tata Steel, Kimberly Clark, JCB and Network Rail.
We also offer a number of highly specialised postgraduate engineering courses, as well as opportunities for doctoral research at our renowned Materials and Engineering Research Institute (MERI).
