How you learn

All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.

Based in our Sheffield Business School, you’ll join a global community where business leaders, researchers and business students all come together to solve problems and make things better.

You’ll be taught by industry experts, who bring their professional experience and insights from cutting-edge research into the classroom. They’ll lead you through a transformational experience – on a programme that’s designed and delivered to inspire you to realise your ambitions.

You learn through:

  • Formal teaching
  • Applied problem-solving
  • Real and simulated case studies
  • Class discussions
  • Presentations
  • Guest speakers
  • Networking opportunities
  • Independent study
  • Portfolio assessment
  • Reflective practice

Course Topics

To be a successful global business leader, you need insights from differing professional and sector perspectives.

You’ll gain knowledge, skills and expertise across core topics including marketing, strategy, leadership, people, finance, operations and business research. Direct your learning by choosing to develop specialist knowledge in areas such as sustainability, internationalisation, disruptive technology, crisis response, and equality, diversity and inclusion.

Throughout the MBA, our approach replicates the real-world – where strategic decisions are made. Rather than simply teaching theory, you’ll learn how things work in practice – through case studies and real-world projects.

You’ll also have the option to strengthen your business acumen and gain work-related experience by exploring other functions within your organisation. This will help you to gain the maximum benefit from the MBA, developing skills to enable you to achieve your leadership goals.

Course Support

Throughout your learning journey, you’ll experience a range of dedicated support, such as:

Access to our unique student support triangle to help with your personal, academic and career development.

  • Access to our Skills Centre with one-to-one support, webinars and online resources.
  • Free office and studio space, expert workshops, freelance opportunities and a vast business network.
  • A network of entrepreneurs and business leaders in our award-winning enterprise hub.
  • Career support for up to five years after graduating.

Applied learning

We think the best way to learn something is to do it in the real world. Our knowledge applied approach to learning focuses strongly on learning from experience in the business world.

Live Projects

We bring the 'real' business world into your learning experience by using live case studies linked to accessible organisations – and by applying concepts, theories and research to your own organisation. This means you can make your learning a truly relevant and meaningful experience.

Networking Opportunities

During the course you’ll be able to develop shared learning, business contacts and networking opportunities through your workplace experiences, peers, teaching staff and industry experts.

You’ll collaborate with other professionals and leaders from the public, private and third sectors. Together, you’ll reflect on challenges, share ideas and innovate new solutions.

You’ll also be encouraged to attend networking events from leading organisations, such as The Institute of Leadership and Management.

Guest Lectures

You’ll also be able to attend guest lectures from business leaders and senior managers – who provide unique insights into business and management.

The course is highly valued by employers and previous MBA graduates who have gone on to develop successful careers in senior management – in a wide range of opportunities across the world.

Fees and funding

Home students

Our tuition fee for UK students starting part-time study in 2025/26 is £16,650 for the course. For part-time study the fee will be calculated pro-rata each year based on the number of credits studied. The tuition fee displayed above is for the full course. If the full course is more than one year in duration, the fee will be divided into annual payments which will then be rounded. This may mean the total fee you pay is slightly higher than the fee stated above. If you take a break in study or have to re-take part of the course, you may also be charged an additional fee and will be notified of this at the time.

If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees.
