- Learn advanced creative skills and engage in experimental practice, applying stop-motion, 2D Animation and mixed techniques.
- Specialise in your preferred animation discipline to create an advanced and distinctive animated film.
- Produce a portfolio of project work to showcase your skills to potential employers, clients and producers.
On this course, you'll learn advanced and current techniques inspired by theoretical knowledge and experimental animation practices. You'll apply this knowledge to develop your own innovative and distinctive animation portfolio. When you graduate, you'll have the exprience you need to build your own artistic practice and collaborate with sectors that require specific creative skills.
How you learn
All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.
The course is taught in a studio-based environment that enables you to develop industry standard skills in relation to a wide range of different roles.
You'll take part in a combination of self-directed and set project briefs, allowing you to develop your own skills while devising innovative, experimental ways of working in animation.
You'll also undertake creative projects led by a process of inquiry where you perform as an artist, researcher and communicator.

Entry requirements
All students
Normally an undergraduate degree at 2:2 or above, in a related field. If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or equivalent.

This course is not open to international students who require a Tier 4 (General) student visa to study in the UK. If you are an international applicant but do not require a Tier 4 (General) student visa, email our Admissions Team to find out whether you’re eligible to apply.

Fees and funding
Home students
Our tuition fee for UK students starting part-time study in 2025/26 is £10,620 for the course. The tuition fee displayed above is for the full course. If the full course is more than one year in duration, the fee will be divided into annual payments which will then be rounded. This may mean the total fee you pay is slightly higher than the fee stated above. If you take a break in study or have to re-take part of the course, you may also be charged an additional fee and will be notified of this at the time. Our tuition fee for UK students starting part-time study in 2025/26 are: Year 1: £3,540 Year 2: £7,080.If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees.
