Since 2008 CAF Venturesome has managed two social investment funds aimed at supporting affordable housing development by Community Land Trusts (CLTs). The CLT Fund I & II has supported over 44 CLTs to build over 100 new affordable homes (with another 400+ in development). The funding landscape for CLTs is changing rapidly, in part due to the emergence of a large government grant programme. As the current CLT Fund is due to close in 2019, this research is helping CAF and other funders consider future finance for the sector. It is providing deeper insights into the benefits and challenges of development by CLTs, and how future financial support might be structured.
