Economic Impact of Social Housing Orgs in Northern Ireland

Project Director: David Robinson
Project Duration: 2014

The overall aim of the research was to provide evidence of the economic impact of housing organisations in Northern Ireland: specifically the Housing Executive, housing associations and the Northern Ireland Co-Ownership Housing Association.

This included evidence regarding the economic impact of building social housing, managing social housing, employment in the sector, investing in communities, and promoting economic growth. The research also aimed to demonstrate the benefits and multiplier effects of investment in housing in Northern Ireland.

The research provided a baseline which will assist in assessment of the various challenges faced by housing organisations, including welfare reform and possible reductions in public expenditure, and will inform policy and strategy including the Social Housing Reform Programme.

The project team also included Mike Foden.
