Quality relationships with loved ones are crucial to mental and physical health but maintaining healthy, happy, and positive romantic relationships can be challenging. Dr Abigail Millings and Dr Elaine Clarke have been working with Koa Health to apply relationships science to the development of a new intervention.
Koa Health’s evidence-based mental well-being app, ‘Foundations’, is used in 56 countries and is available to over 300,000 users. The new programme, developed by Abigail and Elaine, features content based on widely researched techniques and are designed to help users identify, reflect, and work on key aspects of their romantic relationships.
The CeBSAP researchers created five different modules for app users to work through: Avoiding judgement, Communication, Gratitude and appreciation, Spending time together, and Supporting each other. Each module contains information and interactive content, such as quizzes and space to record your own examples.
Dr Sophie Dix of Koa Health said “It has been a pleasure to work with Abi and Elaine to develop new content for Foundations to support interpersonal relationships - a priority area for our users. The programmes they have created are engaging, accessible and will be welcomed by our users and their loved ones too”.
