This research group brings together a diverse group of researchers from across the University who are aligned by a broad interest in film, television and related screen media.
It serves as a forum for staff and postgraduate students with these cognate interests to share their research, form contacts and identify potential opportunities for interdisciplinary, intradepartmental dialogue and collaboration.
Recent projects
Examples of recent and current research projects in film and television include:
- James Fenwick’s work on the Stanley Kubrick Archive
- Sheldon Hall’s work on the programming of feature films on British television
- Anja Louis’s work on the representation of professional women in Spanish film and television
- Craig Ian Mann’s work on werewolf films and contemporary horror cinema
- Chi-Yun Shin’s work on the South Korean Women’s Film Festival
- Suzanne Speidel’s work on film and television adaptations of E. M. Forster’s novels
Events and screenings
The group will hold regular events linked to topics of current research interest, accessible to staff and postgraduate students in all areas.
Many of these events will be accompanied by public screenings of films related to current research projects, which will be held in the University’s purpose-built cinema, The Void.

Work with us
This research group also intends to maintain dialogue with equivalent groups working on film, television and screen studies at universities within the UK and internationally, with a view to developing collaborative projects and sharing research between institutions with an interest in these areas.
