The Careers and Employability Service is part of Sheffield Hallam's Directorate of Business Engagement, Skills and Employability (BESE). Our mission statement sets out our commitment to the level of service we provide:
Every student will be prepared for highly skilled employment or further study upon graduation – delivered through an innovative, impactful and consistent employability offer.
Our college teams offer advice, guidance, and information to enable students and graduates to make well-informed decisions about their current and future plans. Teams work collaboratively with college colleagues to embed and enhance bespoke careers and employability development activity in curricular and extra-curricular contexts, throughout the student life cycle. This includes preparation for placements, internships, graduate-level employment, and an understanding of general recruitment processes. They are also a conduit to our centrally delivered programme of employability activity.
Employ a Student
The University is committed to providing work opportunities for its own students. The Careers and Employability Service oversee and coordinate the recruitment of all student casual workers.
Campus jobs are a great way to give our students the chance to get work experience and make themselves more employable. Appointing a student casual worker can give you support for a particular project, event, or an ongoing need for flexible workers.
All campus job opportunities are advertised to ensure that there is fair opportunity for all students and the recruitment process is open and transparent. By law, all students must have their eligibility to work checked by the Careers Employability Service before being engaged in work assignments on campus.
If you have an opportunity which requires a specific skill or expertise, please speak with The Careers and Employability Service via telephone 0114 225 3940 or via email: careers@shu.ac.uk
