It’s all about extracurriculars and entrepreneurship in the Careers and Employability department this month.
Hallam Award Week is 11 – 15 November, during which we’ll help you start on your bronze, silver, or gold awards in info sessions, workshops, and drop-ins. 
Global Entrepreneurship Week takes place from 18 – 23 November. Find out about running a start-up, selling at markets, or how the Enterprise team can help you with your side hustle as a student or graduate.
Alongside, we’re running our usual programme of events, from our ‘Get Started On…’ events to CV and Cover Letter Check drop-ins.

Careers Talk: how to become a Forensic Psychologist by Jamie Coleman, 12:00 - 13:00

Jamie Coleman is a chartered and registered forensic psychologist, employed by the prison service. She has worked for the prison service for over 22 years, in various settings including, high security, open conditions and the female estate.

Jamie's talk will provide information about the route into forensic psychology and insight into the day to date life of the role itself.

Sheffield Policy Campus Simulation Event with DfE and DWP - A Day in the Life, 13:00 17:00

Would you like a career where you can influence and support how public services are run?

The Civil Service supports the Government of the day in developing and implementing its policies and delivering public services. 

Last year the Sheffield Department for Education (DfE) developed a collaborative cross-government approach with other Civil Service regional offices (DWP & Home Office) to form the ‘Sheffield Policy Campus.’ The aim: to create and grow a hub of core policy-related jobs, where people can advance their careers in key-decision making positions whilst staying in the Sheffield region.

Careers Talk: Emotional and Behavioural Counselling at Schools by Andrea Chatten, 12:00 - 13:00

Andrea Chatten has been working with children and young people experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties for over 35 years. In the last 10 years, she has founded an organisation (Unravel) that is offering a new model of psychology to support children’s well-being and has also written a series of novels for children on emotional regulation. Unravel has employed several Hallam Psychology graduates in recent years. Andrea will share how they help kids, what to do if you want to join them and there will be time for Q&A.
