Your Handshake profile
As a Hallam student, you already have an account waiting for you in Handshake - all you need to do is activate it! Remember: as a current Hallam student, you must log in to Handshake via the ‘Current SHU Students login’ button. If you are a Hallam graduate, there is specific information available for accessing Handshake as a graduate.
With a Handshake profile you can:
- Select the type of jobs, cities and roles you are interested in to see the most relevant opportunities available to you, and for employers to seek you out for themselves
- Search and apply for jobs, including part-time and campus jobs, placements, internships, and graduate jobs
- Book onto workshops and careers fairs
- Attend employer events
- Discover new employers every day and enhance your network

Your profile is the first thing employers will see. Think about how you can showcase your experience and skills, and make sure your profile is 100% complete to really stand out. You should include your work experience, voluntary and extracurricular activities, professional interests, skills you have developed, and a professional image. Think of it as a LinkedIn profile. You will set your profile up the first time you log in - remember to regularly check and update your profile so employers see the most up-to-date information.
