Looking for fresh perspectives? As one of the UK’s leading applied universities, we’re keenly aware that the workforce of tomorrow is in our hands today. We have access to thousands of the brightest minds! They study and research in diverse, industry-relevant subjects - ready to apply their knowledge to businesses just like yours.
Advertise an opportunity
You can use our free online vacancy handling service, Handshake, to advertise a wide range of opportunities, from part-time and vacation work, to placements and graduate jobs. All students and graduates (up to five years after graduation) have access to the system, so it is an ideal way to reach an audience for your opportunities. We recommend you create a login and upload your vacancies, enabling you to log in at any time to amend, extend or end an opportunity.
Find out more on the Recruit our students and graduates page on the University's Business website.
Employer presentations
Present your organisation and opportunities to students and graduates as part of our lunchtime or twilight employer presentation sessions. These sessions are sometimes more suitable for larger and more well-known organisations and are restricted to certain points in the year to maximise student attendance. Please get in touch with us via the details below to register your interest.
Workshops and skills sessions
Delivering a skills session or workshop to students is a valuable way to raise the profile of your organisation whilst meeting a pipeline of great candidates. Skills sessions can often get a bigger audience and can help to get great students through your recruitment processes. Previous topics have included: 'psychometric tests', 'how to write a successful application' and 'STAR interview techniques'. Please get in touch with us via the details below to register your interest.
Mentor a student
The Hallam Career Mentoring Scheme matches student mentees with industry professionals who can offer real insights into working life within a relevant role or industry. Mentoring is incredibly rewarding and offers you the opportunity to share your experience and knowledge with students, whilst allowing you to develop your own skills, knowledge, and experience. Each mentor will be assigned to a member of our mentoring team, to provide support and guidance as a point of contact. All it takes is a minimum of four one-hour meetings with a mentee between November and April! To start your mentoring journey, or if you have any questions, contact our mentoring team via email on careermentoring@shu.ac.uk
