Tell us about your business 
Picture Perfect Photography, is a creative photography studio that gives more than just an image, our mission is to bring your vision to life. We help companies and individuals produce creative and specialist images by getting to know the company’s background and story to enable us to work around the specific goals. 

Why did you reach out to the University / How did you hear about the support available via the University?
I’ve been working with SHU for a number of years, accessing their talented students and graduates via a variety of their recruitment and work experience schemes. I’ve always found that injecting young and fresh perspectives into the business have benefited our brand. I myself started out my career on work experience at aged 15 and I’m keen to follow my passion to help our talented and younger generation thrive. 

What key skills were you seeking in your new recruit?
In my recent recruitment campaign I was looking for a talented Marketing Executive and a Photographers Assistant, who could bring technical and creative skills to the team with an eye for visual aesthetics. They needed to hit the ground running and be able to manage their own workload using great time management skills. We work flexibly around our clients in the studio, from home and location, because we are a small but agile team, communication is important throughout the week. 

How did your new recruit support your business?
My Marketing exec created regular website updates, sales brochures, helped with printed graphics for an in person events and social media interactions which helped improve our visibility to existing and new clients, whilst my Photographers Assistant helped set up and assist on shoots as well as edit the results for the clients. Abbie has now later progressed onto taking photos for clients as a second shooter, in the studio and on location. 

How easy was it to access the University support? 
The Employer Partnerships Team are very approachable and make it easy to access support from the university making the process seamless. 

What are your businesses ambitions for the future?
I want to continue to grow and be able to take on additional staff when required, I’m looking for long term commitment from my employees to give good stability to the company and support our clients. 

What advice would you give SMEs in the region who have not accessed the Universities services before? 
Contact your local university and see what they have to offer, there a usually a number of different schemes on the go, one of which will suit your needs.
