Tell us about your business
Moore Insight has been supporting clients with their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and data transformations for over 30 years. We apply our market leading expertise to enable clients achieve maximum value from their core back-office systems and processes across Finance, HR, Payroll, Procurement, and other business areas.

We work with a range of clients from large central government departments and intergovernmental organisations to small local authorities and medium sized private and charitable companies.

We are part of MOORE – a global network of accounting and advisory firms – and collectively, we want to set the standard for what quality service looks like, both for our clients and our communities.

We have big growth and social ambitions which has driven our recruitment goals and subsequent connection with the High Skills High Growth Scheme. As a small but growing company, the Scheme offered us invaluable support to recruit graduate talent in the local area.

How did you hear about the support available via the university?
We first engaged with the scheme via the RISE programme in 2019. This led to us recruiting 5 graduates – 3 more than we planned – into various posts within our company in 2020. The programme was so successful that we decided to participate in the scheme again later in 2020; as a result of which, 2 further graduates were recruited. Given all of the above, it was a no-brainer for us to take up the opportunity to recruit an intern from the current internship programme into our organisation.

What key skills were you seeking in your new recruit?
We had a short-term opportunity for someone to work in our finance team to help us deal with the increase in workload as a result of our recent growth. Whilst some kind of accounting and finance degree was obviously going to be beneficial, we were more focused on recruiting the right type of person for our organisation, that is to say, someone who was hungry to learn, eager to help and most importantly, not afraid of making mistakes when learning to do new things.

How did your new recruit support your business?
Henna, our new intern, has quickly been able to pick up routine tasks from the finance department providing valuable support to the finance manager as well as consolidating some of the learning from her degree, through her practical experience. Her support has been valuable to the business so much so that we have just extended her contract for a further couple of months.

How easy was it to access the University support?
As with all our interactions with Hallam (including the RISE programme), we found the process simple and the staff we dealt with helpful and engaging.

What are your businesses ambitions for the future?
We are on a very ambitious growth path which will undoubtedly lead to further recruitment from within the region – watch this space.

What advice would you give SMEs in the region who have not accessed the Universities services before?
Do it.
