Elliott Kerin is the senior account manager for ESC Global, an industrial and commercial water treatment, water hygiene and chemical supplier based in Doncaster. He is also a participant on the Help to Grow: Management course.

Why did you sign up for the Help to Grow: Management course?

As an SME, having the opportunity to access such a comprehensive training package, covering all aspects of business growth in one place drew our attention. Growing an SME is challenging and having access to a course that covers such a breadth of topics in one package was ideal. As the course is delivered over a specified, short time frame, it allowed us to fit the training in around business needs.

Since completing Help to Grow: Management, what does business growth look like for your company?

The course has supported the growth and professionalisation of the business. It has also helped me set long term vision and goals for the team, develop my leadership style, improve my overall awareness of business practices and how I manage key challenges.

What experience did you find most useful?

The leading for high performance, engaging and inspiring teams and creating customer value modules were particularly interesting and relevant to my role. Comparing different management methods, programmes, and business structures with others on the course was also enlightening and useful.

Thinking of your own approach to leadership, how do you feel that has changed having taken part in the course?

Definitely, I have really gained confidence in decision making and offering solutions to the business since taking part in the course.

Do you feel more equipped for the future?

Yes, I have gained valuable knowledge that I will be able to put into practice in the future.

What would you say to another business leader thinking about joining the Help to Grow: Management course?

I’d encourage others to attend the course and gain the benefit of the training. There are modules covering all aspects of growing and developing an SME, which help prepare businesses to face a range of challenges. It is also a great opportunity to network with other businesses in the area.
