Heartspace Atrium
Over the last 18 months, we have worked with our partners (The Hallam Alliance) to create a flexible space at the heart of our campus that staff, students and visitors can enjoy in advance of future buildings being developed.
The work has included a replacement of the Atrium roof, which has been designed with interlayers to reduce glare, give shade, and ensure that the area offers a comfortable temperature to occupants all year round.
The internal space has also been transformed to provide a contemporary, vibrant area that honours the pre-existing architecture and celebrates the impressiveness of the Atrium. This includes new lighting, that can be adjusted to create a strong identity day or night, and real living plants which are integrated through the entire space to support our long-term vision for a ‘green campus spine’ - a thread that will run through all our estate plans.
On level 5 of the Atrium, we have two new catering outlets, Hallam Café and Hallam Kitchen (where Cutting Edge used to be). Our team of chefs have created an exciting new menu to suit a range of diets, providing homemade breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, in a contemporary environment.
